About Me

Welcome!

Currently, I am a master's student Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX. I tend to think of myself as an academia-oriented person. I like spending my free time reading, watching documentaries or political and educational shows on CNN or MSNBC. I usually write blog entries in Arabic and English about what I watch only for the sake of sharing. Often times, I get the feeling I should have been on the show. So, writing blogs helps me voice my ideas. For me writing is a matter of survival not a luxury or a leisure activity.
Also, I translate from and into Arabic, French and English. I recently joined the review board for the 2011 National Translation Award with the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA). It has been a rewarding experience as the book I reviewed is interesting and I designed an evaluation sheet for reviewing.
One of the achievements I am very proud of is Tunisian Fulbright Society. It is an educational program I designed, developed and implemented for Tunisian Fulbright grantees and alumni. The program recently won a grant from the US Department of State and will soon publish its first newsletter.
My ultimate ambition is to work for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. In order to qualify for such large scale mission, I would like to start as a faculty and then a writing program director in the Middle East. This is because I personally believe that non-native speakers of English find a hard time voicing themselves academically. Therefore, helping them writing in good English will definitely guarantee their representation in academia.
