About ENGL5365

Welcome to ENGL5365 Portfolio,

ENGL5365 is a Writing Program Administration (WPA) class. It is designed to cover the different historical, theoretical and pragmatic issues in the field. This comprehensive aspect encouraged me to sign up for the class especially that it meets my professional and academic needs.
Theoretically, ENGL5365 requires students to read about writing programs' history, theories, curriculum design, assessment and evaluation. Such knowledge is reinforced by an on-field interview of a writing program or writing center director. All is wrapped up in a final paper on which the student is fully responsible.
My interest in this class comes from my passion with writing in different languages, but especially English. In the future, I would like to work in writing programs affiliated with US colleges or universities in the Middle East. Writing is such an important academic skill that students, being potential workforce but most importantly academics, need in order to survive and not perish. I believe that learners there being mostly non-native speakers of English, but fortunate enough to study in US institutions, need considerable help and coaching to write in a good academic English. Therefore, I try to bring my background in linguistics with my current research in writing to a level at which students benefit most. US universities based overseas confront a challenging task of bringing students to write in a competitive academic English while at the same time guaranteeing the same level of US educational standards. I think that is where my academic background comes in handy. Taking ENGL5365 helps acquire the managerial aspect needed to succeed these programs.
In this blog, I share my projects fulfilled for this class. I hope they be of a quality competitive enough to make an A and qualify me for my dream job.
